So yeah I was bitter when that a#%hole called me in from a good start last week only to ask me why my book was so low for Thursday. I went out at 8 in a radio car cause one of the helpers in the office screwed up and didn’t put me on the schedule. So anyway I’m doing great and get called in the office, well he said. You are 12% below book for Thursday so I’m going to suspend you and you haven’t been doing so great. (especially since I said I didn’t want to rip anyone off with the tunnel). This story will tell you about that http://www.lasvegasnow.com/global/story.asp?s=10655766 I mean how could you get the average when so many are doing 16 rides through the tunnel a day. Each ride is 30 dollars and if you miss two your out of the average. Anyway I’m glad I got fired from Desert because I just can’t work as hard as most of them drivers. Oh yeah that’s what Sandy say’s, he’s the GM. Quote “are you saying that the only way to make average is to go through the tunnel? I could make average and never go on the freeway” Yeah right, he’s out of touch you should hear in the break room at the end of the shift how the drivers brag about long hauling. Anyway who cares?

I feel your pain, dude. It is not a good time to be out of a job. I hope everything works out for you. I worked for Desert Cab Company before for four months. One time I worked over 12 hours a day every day for forty days in a row when I was there. I got along with Sandy and everybody. And the drivers there do work hard, too. I went to work and asked for a restricted radio cab every day because I knew there was no way I could keep up with the average book. But that was several years ago, and back then business was good in Las Vegas, and I made more money taking radio calls at that time then I did last year working on the strip all the time. Desert had a lot of radio calls back then. When I was driving a restricted cab at Desert I was almost above the average for the shift, and many times on the top of restricted drivers. But when I worked in an unrestricted cab at Desert, for some reason I was always way below the average book compared to the other unrestricted drivers, even though I had more rides than average. Must have just been a run of bad luck. I quit and moved on.
I appreciate the sympathy but one of the main reasons I got fired I believe is because I always had my laptop with me. I actually made more money on the stands than I did driving so I’m not hurting. Besides I will get unemployment because I didn’t do anything wrong. Sandy I ok I guess but he is so jaded he doesn’t know the truth when he hears it.
